Robyn Thompson is a high school history teacher with more interesting off-topic historical rabbit trails than class time allows.

History is a long thread that you can’t take any specific part of, without finding something more to pull.  And again.  And again.  Hence the problem of having a super-excited history teacher who wants to explain the how and why events in history occurred. The rise and fall of empires, the roots of ideologies, and the causes (and effects) of wars.  It is impossible to fully teach any subject in history with any level of understanding, in just one school year.  Trust me, I am forced to try in every year.  It just doesn’t work. 

I emphasize to my students the importance of asking questions (and I get disappointed when they don’t). It is important to remember that everyone has a bias - even if they appear not to.  It’s true that the winners write history, and I strive to look as closely as possible at the full story, not just the one that sounds good.  Feel free to join me on my rabbit-trail quests.
